Pinellas IRB helps to fund NSU Tampa Bay’s $200 Million Campus in Clearwater
The new 27-acre Nova Southeastern University Tampa Bay Regional Campus in Clearwater houses the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine and Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences. The $200 million development was partially financed through a Pinellas County Industrial Revenue Bond facilitated by Pinellas County Economic Development and approved by the Pinellas Board of County Commissioners. The campus will accommodate 2,000 students enrolled in programs that include occupational and physical therapy, clinical mental health counseling, nursing and psychology, as well as 150 students enrolled in the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program.

Call for applicants: Tampa Bay Innovation Center’s Entrepreneurship & Investment ChallengeThe Tampa Bay Innovation Center is launching its’ first Early Stage Startup Company Accelerator: The Entrepreneur & Investment Challenge. Participating entrepreneurs will pitch their businesses to regional venture capital firms and successful entrepreneurs. All firms will have a chance to compete for funding and collaboration space at the Tampa Bay Innovation Center for up to one year. FSBDC at PCED Events in September

On Sept. 19, the Florida Small Business Development Center at Pinellas County Economic Development co-hosted two special events. The Veteran-Owned Business Breakfast Meeting provided an opportunity for veteran business owners to network and learn about Pinellas County’s Small Business Enterprise program.  The Export Finance Forum presented valuable information about product, programs, and services available to aid U.S. exporters’ needs. Manufacturers: PTC needs input for Precision Measurement curriculum
Pinellas Technical College is in the process of designing a “Precision Measurement” short program.  This program is being built in response to community requests for specific types of training.  At this time the program is scheduled to include, scales, micrometers, dial indicators, as well as layout.  Pinellas Technical College is looking for input on program curriculum, format, and length.  Anyone interested in providing input, through a five minute conversation, should contact Jake Prokop, Director, at (727) 538-7167 x 2005 or prokopj@pcsb.org

Oct. 3: Open House for 126th Ave. N. Study Pinellas County has scheduled a Public Alternatives Meeting for the 126th Ave. N. Improvements PD&E (Project Development & Environmental) Study that’s underway. The informal open house is set for Thursday, Oct. 3, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the St. Petersburg College Epicenter, 13805 58th St. N., Clearwater. The meeting will allow citizens and stakeholders to learn about the design alternatives, along with their social, economic and environmental impacts, and provide feedback. A no-build option is also under consideration.

Film Finance Forum, Oct. 5This free seminar is presented by the St. Petersburg Clearwater Film Commission. The informational seminar on the business of the film industry will detail the intricacies of financing feature films. The discussion will encompass the structure of the film business, financing methods, strategies and opportunities to invest in the film industry. Learn more and register to attend here.

Suncoast Developers’ Guild Oct. EventsDemo Day, Oct. 18: Fourteen fabulous developers will be demonstrating the final projects that they have built over just a few weeks. Cohort XVI, begins Oct. 28: Applications are being accepted.
