Men’s Lacrosse Receives No. 12 Ranking in Latest Poll

TAMPA, Fla.– The University of Tampa Spartans was tabbed No. 12 in the latest USILA Division II coaches poll, as announced by the association office, Monday.
Over the weekend, the Tampa Spartans defeated SSC rival, Florida Southern by a final score of 17-14. In the contest, senior Andrew Kew tallied seven points against the Moccasins on five goals and two assists. Due to his impressive performance, he earned Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors. Following Kew‘s efforts were those of freshman, Harry Kilkowski who recorded four goals and one assist. Face-off specialist Ross Dickerson won 21 of the 28 faceoffs he took, leading the team in ground balls with nine in addition to earning one goal. B.J. Borowski suited up as the teams starting goalkeeper. In the contest, he recorded 12 saves on 23 shots.
Merrimack sits at the top of the poll, followed by Adelphi snagging the No. 2 ranking. The top five is rounded out by Limestone, Belmont Abbey, and Mercy respectively. The Sunshine State Conference is well represented in the poll. In addition to the Spartans at No. 12, Saint Leo earns No. 14, and Lynn University receives the No. 18 rank.
This weekend the Spartans will travel to Marietta, Georgia where they will face the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears on Saturday, February 23. This game is a neutral site contest and will be played at Pope High School starting at 1:00 p.m.
