Men’s Lacrosse is Set to Host No. 20 Rollins College
TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 16 University of Tampa men’s lacrosse team is set to host the No. 20 Rollins College Tars on Wednesday, April 10that 8:00 p.m.

Last Time Out: The University of Tampa defeated the Saint Leo Lions by a final score of 17-8. In the contest, Jake Mosher McGraw had a whopping four goals in addition to stating one caused turnover for the Spartans. Senior Matt Vetter also led the Spartans offense, netting three goals while also stating two assists and one ground ball. Ross Dickerson continued to be unstoppable for UT, winning 18-21 face-offs from the X. The junior captain also picked up a team-high of 17 groundballs, scored one goal, and logged one assist. For the majority of the contest, UT used sophomore B.J. Borowski as keeper. The sophomore faced 14 shots and recorded six saves in the contest.
About the Spartans: Tampa is currently 10-4 on the 2019 season, 4-0 in the Sunshine State Conference. After falling out of the USILA national ranking for the first time since the 2015 season, UT has battled their way back into the national spotlight, and sits at No. 16 in the most recent coaches poll. The Spartans are led offensively by senior Andrew Kew. Kew has 68 points on the season made up of a team-high of 41 goals and 27 assists. Sophomore Colin Whiteis second on the team in points with 45. White has scored 38 times and has stated seven assists. Matt Vetter is the third leading scorer for the Spartans with 44 points. He has 22 goals and 22 assists. Defensively, Sam Collingwood has a team-high of 18 caused turnovers on top of his 20 ground balls, while Luke Robideaux has 13 caused turnovers and 30 ground balls. Junior Ross Dickerson remains one of the best faceoff specialists in the nation. He currently has the fifth best face-off winning percentage in all Division II with 76.6%. Dickerson has won 265-346 face-offs from the X and has a team-high of 157 recorded ground balls. Finally, at keeper, the Spartans have been primarily using the returning SSC Freshman of the Year, B.J. Borowski. Borowski has 95 saves on the season and a goals against average of 10.97.
About the Tars: The Tars are currently 8-3 overall, 2-2 in the SSC. Rollins record consists of two wins over ranked opponents. These wins were recorded against the then No. 20 Colorado Mesa Mavericks (3/13/19) and the then No. 14 Saint Leo Lions (4/3/19). In the latest USILA Division II Coaches Poll, Rollins sits at No. 20. Most recently, the Tars defeated the Florida Southern Moccasins by a final score of 20-11. This season Rollins is led offensively by #45 Ryan Dunn, and #10 Greg Taicher. Dunn has 46 points on the season consisting of 34 goals and 12 assists. Taicher has stated 45 points in his senior campaign, with 27 goals and 18 assists. Senior defenseman, #53 Evan Schimek, heads the Tars defense with 28 caused turnovers and 33 ground balls. For faceoffs, Rollins uses a combination of #15 Kyle Sudol and #41 Cam Reeves. Sudol is 71-139 from the X, while Reeves is 65-122. Finally, Rollins uses both #40 Will Eckert and #99 Landon Salie as kepper. The two have 69 and 30 saves respectively.
Series History (Men’s): The Spartans have never lost to the Tars. Tampa leads the all-time series over Rollins 9-0.
