Men’s Lacrosse Climbs Poll to No. 9

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa Spartans climb the ranks to No. 9 in the latest USILA coaches poll as announced by the association, Monday.
Over the weekend the then No. 12 Spartans defeated the No. 17 Lenoir-Rhyne Bears by a final score of 16-11. In the contest, three different Spartans had three goals, including Matt Vetter, Jake Mosher McGraw, and Colin White. Senior Andrew Kew fed the offense with a team-high of five assists. Defensively, Dylan Carter stated two caused turnovers, while goalkeeper B.J. Borowski tallied 19 saves on 30 shots. Additionally, face-off specialist, Ross Dickerson, won 23 of the 28 faceoffs he took.
Merrimack continues to sit at the top of the poll, followed by Adelphi remaining at the No. 2 ranking. The top five is rounded out by Limestone, Belmont Abbey, and Mercy respectively. The Sunshine State Conference is well represented in the poll. In addition to the Spartans at No. 9, Lynn earns No. 15, and Saint Leo falls to No. 16.
This week the Spartans will host No. 2 Adelphi on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. Then on Sunday, UT welcomes the Assumption Greyhounds for a 1:00 p.m. start.
