McKiel Earns Player of the Year Honors; Potter Also Earns All-Conference
MELBOURNE, Fla. – Two University of Tampa volleyball players have earned All-Sunshine State Conference honors. Katie McKiel earned first-team honors and Kamari Potter earned second-team honors. McKiel also was named Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year.
McKiel, an outside hitter from Colorado Springs, Colo., becomes the 11th Spartan to be named Player of the Year and the first since 20161. For the season, McKiel led the league in total attempts (1,160), kills (433), and kills per set (3.77). She was also 21st in digs (277) and 29th in digs per set (2.41).
Potter, a middle blocker from Daytona Beach, Fla. earned second-team honors after a solid year for Tampa. She finished the year with 251 kills which ranked third on the team. She would also finish the regular season with a .359 hitting percentage, which was third among all qualified athletes in the SSC.
