McKiel Earns Fourth SSC Player of the Week Honors
MELBOURNE, Fla – For the fourth time this season, the University of Tampa’s Katie McKiel has been named Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
During the week, McKiel led the Spartans to a pair of victories over Saint Leo and Rollins. In the game against Saint Leo, McKiel was a key part in the five-set victory. McKiel recorded a career-high 29 kills and added 16 digs for her seventh double-double of the year. The 29 kills are the most in a single game for a Tampa player since the 2007 season. In the victory against Rollins, McKiel would go on to add another 13 kills.
For the week she averaged 21 kills and 9.5 digs per game. She also averaged 5.25 kills per set.
McKiel and the rest of the Spartans will be back in action with three games this week. On Tuesday, Tampa will travel to Eckerd. On Friday and Saturday, UT will be home as they welcome in Palm Beach Atlantic and Barry. Tuesday and Friday’s game will begin at 7:00 p.m. and the game on Saturday is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
