Katie McKiel First-Team All-Region – University of Tampa Athletics

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa’s Katie McKiel has earned a pair of South Region honors. The junior outside hitter from Colorado Springs, Colo. was named to the AVCA and D2CCA First-Team.
The Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year led the Spartans offense, finishing the year with a total of 433 kills, averaging 3.77 kills per set. These numbers were the most in the SSC. She would also finish the regular season with 277 digs, which ranked second on the team.
This is the second year in a row McKiel earned AVCA and D2CCA First-Team All-Region honors.
McKiel and the rest of the Spartans will be back in action tomorrow as they open up the NCAA South Region Tournament. Tampa will face off against the University of Alabama in Huntsville at 2:30 p.m. at the de Hoernle Sports and Cultural Center on the campus of Lynn University. This will be the second time the two teams will meet this year; the Spartans took the first matchup at the South Region Crossover.
