Jimi Kiner Named SSC Coach of the Year
MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference has announced its 2019 women’s swimming individual awards. Emma Sundstedt of Nova Southeastern University is named Swimmer of the Year, while Freshman of the Year honors fellow Shark Sasha Maslova. Jimi Kiner of the University of Tampa has been selected Coach of the Year by his peers.
Kiner has been selected SSC Coach of the Year by his peers following a conference championship and a fifth-place finish among 45 scoring teams at the national championship. Kiner brings the award back to Tampa for the first time since Ed Brennan swept the first four honors in conference history.
SSC Swimmer, Freshman, and Coach of the Year awards are selected by a vote of the league’s swimming coaches following the NCAA Division II National Championship. All-SSC swimmers were selected earlier this season following the conference championship meet held February 21-24 at the Long Center in Clearwater.
