Bradenton, October 2019 – Tropical storm Nestor brought overcast skies and gusty winds to Manatee County Habitat FORE Humanity’s golf tournament on Saturday, but it didn’t hinder the game or the enthusiasm at the sold-out event. Held at Waterlefe Golf & River Club hosted, golfers met with LPGA legend Jan Stephenson at the 11th hole for a photo an optional best-shot opportunity, and at the 14th hole, her award-winning wine and rum made for a tasty libation stop. Dinner and an awards ceremony followed, emceed by Bob Harrigan of ABC7.
The foursome who came in first place were Jason Hofius, Steve Slocum, Kerry Langman and Seth Lauer.
“Everyone who played is a winner,” said Habitat CEO Diana Shoemaker. “We are grateful to the staff, volunteers, donors, sponsors and especially Jan and the other golfers who made it such a fabulous event.”
Proceeds from the event will support Manatee Habitat’s 25th Anniversary Build this year. To celebrate, the organization will also host a 25th Birthday Bash on Saturday, November 9, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bradenton Riverwalk. The family-friendly festivities are free to the public and birthday cake will be served!
