Exhibits at The Dali Dozen, 12 emerging Artist to watch in 2019 The Dali Museum’s Zodiac Membership Committee Hosts Annual event to Support Local Artists
St. Petersburg, FLA ( October 29th, 2019) – On Wednesday, December 4th , 2019, The Dalí Museum’s Zodiac Committee will present Dacota Maphis and Daniel DeWindt / Expressions by D&D as one of the 12 featured artists in “The Dalí Dozen, 12 emerging Artists to watch in 2019,” taking place at the Museum from 6-9pm.
This annual event celebrates and supports the vibrant Tampa Bay arts scene by hosting 12 up-and-coming artists in the region. Each artist was selected by the Zodiac Committee members and invited to display during the exclusive event. Museum members and guests are invited to the one-night event featuring photographers, oil painters, sculptors, burlesque performers, jewelers, glass artists and many more surprises.
Expressions by D&D aka Daniel DeWindt and Dacota Maphis are very honored to have been selected to be a part of this prestigious event. Daniel has mastered his own style of realistic expressionism in oil and Dacota has created a surreal world with her unique digital art, which starts with a photograph then is morphed into something completely different. During this year’s event they will be painting live. Taking turns on one canvas they express through brush strokes, how they use their very different life backgrounds and art disciplines to turn paint into words that can speak to your imagination. This last July they were selected to paint live at the Glazer Children Museum as part of the “Tampa Mini Maker Fair”. During their demonstration they talked about the advantages of working with people that are different than yourself and the joy of finding new possibilities.

ABOUT Expressions by D&D
Two artist from very different life experiences and artistic style have coupled up to create intriguing and imaginative paintings. Dacota Maphis is primarily a surreal Digital Artist and Daniel DeWindt is an oil Portrait Painter both are award-winning artist that combine their knowledge as they take turns on a canvas. With no time limits and very minimal conversation they layer paint to produce abstract art that inspires imagination with bold colors and dynamic movement. ABOUT THE ZODIAC COMMITTEE
The Zodiac Membership Committee is an all-volunteer group that supports the mission of The Dalí Museum by building meaningful relationships with members, fostering new interest in the membership program, and helping to strengthen ties between the Museum, its members and the arts community. The original Zodiac Group was created in France in 1932 and consisted of 12 patrons who each sponsored Salvador Dalí for one month of the year. In exchange, patrons received a work of Dalí’s produced during that same month.
