TAMPA, Fla. – University of Tampa women’s basketball player Emily Eshoo was named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams, selected by CoSIDA. The award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
A senior guard from Naperville, Ill., Eshoo carries a 4.0 GPA while majoring in international studies. Her success has also carried over to the basketball floor, where she has started all 25 games for the 19-6 Spartans. She currently averages 10.2 points per game and ranks third on the team with 52 assists. Her 43.4 3-point field goal percentage is also first on the team. A transfer from Bradley University, she currently sits at third all-time with a 40.7 career 3-point percentage in her two seasons at UT.
Eshoo becomes the fifth player in program history to earn academic all-district honors, and the first since current assistant coach Elena deAlfredo in 2017.
A first-team Academic All-District® honoree, Eshoo will advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed in links provided above and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
