Eagles Blank Spartans to Advance in SSC Tournament
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The University of Tampa Women’s Soccer team was defeated by Embry-Riddle in the first round of the Sunshine State Conference tournament to conclude the 2019 campaign for Tampa.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Half | (1′) Seconds into the game, the Eagles took an early lead as forward Gardarsdo Ragnheidur scored her fourth goal of the season. Tampa looked to even the score with a couple of good shots on goal, but were unable to do so. || ERAU, 1-0
2nd Half | The Spartans came out on the attack, as their offense had two shots on goal early in the second half that were saved by the Eagles goalkeeper. (69′) However, Gardarsdo weaved in and out of the Tampa defense and took a strike from outside of the box to give the Eagles the decisive 2 goal lead, and her second of the night. || ERAU 2-0
Inside the Stats:
- The Spartans recorded a total of 11 shots.
- Elena Barr led all Spartans with four shots, all of which were on target.
- Adding three shots for UT was Moeko Morse.
- Goalkeeper Lovisa Camel recorded six saves.
UP NEXT: UT’s season is complete, as the Eagles will now advance to the SSC semifinals which will take place on Thursday at Barry.
