SAINT LEO, Fla.. – The No. 2 University of Tampa Spartans, led by a Nick DeTringo grand slam, defeated Saint Leo 8-6 Friday Night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Saint Leo got on the board first in the bottom of the first, scoring one run. | 1-0 Saint Leo
• The Spartans scored three runs in the top of the second highlighted by a Cole Perry solo Home Run. | 3-1 Tampa
• Nick DeTringo hit a grand slam in the top of third, leading the Spartans to a four run inning versus Saint Leo. | 7-1 Tampa
• The Lions struck back in the bottom of the fifth, scoring five runs to cut the Spartans’ lead to one. | 7-6 Tampa
• Alec Aleywine hit an RBI single in the top of the sixth, doubling Tampa’s lead over Saint Leo. | 8-6 Tampa

INSIDE THE STATS:

• DeTringo batted two for four on the day, with a grand slam, four RBI’s, and two Runs for the Spartans
• Perry also hit a Home Run, going one for three and scoring two Runs in the process
• Yorvis Torrealba batted three for four on the day, scoring one Run

• Torrealba increased his hitting streak to 11 games with his three hits.
