Danny Sirven Catches SSC player of Week Honors
MELBOURNE, Fla. – After leading the No. 6 University of Tampa baseball team to a three-game road sweep over No. 13 University of North Georgia, Danny Sirven has been recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week.
The senior catcher from Miami earns the honors for the first time in his career after leading Tampa offensively to a three-game series sweep of the No. 13 University of North Georgia. The senior catcher went 6-for-14 at the plate while recording a home run in every game of the series.
Sirven’s top game came in an 11-inning, 11-9 victory where he went 2-for-4 with two walks, a home run, two runs scored, and four RBI. For the week, Sirven slashed .429/.500/1.071 with five runs and six runs batted in.
Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of April 15 – 21, 2019. Athletes are nominated by Sports Information Directors of member institutions.
