Busy FIRA Race in the Books for Spartans
SARASOTA, Fla. – The University of Tampa rowing team competed at the 2019 Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association (FIRA) Championships over the weekend, finishing with 16.5 points.
The Novice 8+ turned in a sixth-place finish and time of 7:52.40 from the group of Lauren Blake, Kayla Bell, Sienna Gutierrez, Savannah Martin, Sam Volkens, Grace McGhee, Katie Sturmer, Liv Nikopoulos and coxswain Reagan Bieze.
UT competed to a second-place finish in the Varsity 2x as the rowers were Erin Hanson and Hanna Vernetti. They were clocked at 8:41.39.
The Spartans return to action at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Championships on April 19-20 in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
