Brett Saunders Honored as SSC Swimmer of the Week

MELBOURNE, Fla. – University of Tampa swimmer Brett Saunders has been tabbed as the Sunshine State Conference Men’s Swimmer of the Week following his effort in leading UT to a team title at the fifth-annual Spartan Invite.
Saunders led the way as Tampa took first-place at the fifth-annual Spartan Invite. The Newark, Delaware product set a school record in the 200 Breast with a second-place time of 1:58.39. Saunders then brought home gold in the 200 Back with a time of 1:45.36. He also finished third-place in the 100 Breast at 55.02. Saunders’ times in the 200 Breast, 200 Back and 100 Breast are all NCAA “B” cuts. The weekly award is the third of his career and the second this season.
Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of December 16 – 22, 2019. Athletes are nominated by Sports Information Directors of member institutions.
