Arts Council Announces Winners of First-Ever Art in the Park Artist Contest

Hernando County Fine Arts Council is proud to announce the winners of its inaugural Art in the
Park Artist Contest.

The Contest builds excitement for the 36th Annual Art in the Park festival, held March 14 and 15,
2020, 10 am-5 pm, at Tom Varn Park, 306 Darby Lane, Brooksville, FL. Visitors are encouraged
to stop by the Artists Feature Booth to see the winning artwork.
“The Arts Council is thrilled with the response to this contest. Nearly 100 Hernando County
artists responded,” said Allisa Babor, Council member who spearheaded the contest. “We are
proud to give local artists an opportunity to share their work with the community, and to gain
exposure and recognition.”
The contest was open to artists of all ages, and entrants ranged from 10 to 90 years old. Artists
were asked to submit designs that reflect and represent the Florida lifestyle and showcase both
the area’s beauty and its uniqueness. Top ten finalists were Sue Beach, Anne Bristol, Leslie
Duncan, Peter Gerbert, Elizabeth Johnson, Joan LoBianco, Alan Metzger, Chris Munson,
Hayley Riege, and Diane Ziemski.
AWARD DETAILS
1st Place Prize: $250 cash prize, Interview Spotlight in the AITP Souvenir Program, an online
Art Directory space for 1 year, and 10% of proceeds from products sold featuring winning
artwork
2nd Place Prize: $125 cash prize and an online Art Directory space for 1 year
3rd Place Prize: $75 cash prize and an online Art Directory space for 1 year
