SAINT LEO, Fla.. – The No. 2 University of Tampa Spartans, led by Home Runs by Aleywine and Derr, win both halves of today’s double-header versus Saint Leo, sweeping the SSC rival.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME ONE:

• Yorvis Torrealba reached with a single to start the ball game and would later score on an Alec Aleywine ground ball. | 1-0 Tampa
• Saint Leo struck back in the bottom of the first, leading off the day with a solo Home Run. | 1-1 Tampa
• The Lions scored in the bottom of the third, taking the lead over the Spartans. | 2-1 Saint Leo
• Aleywine hit a solo Home Run to right field in the top of the fourth to tie the ball game. | 2-2 Tampa
• Aleywine hit a Grand Slam in the top of the fifth, scoring Ehrhard, Torrealba and Blair to give Tampa the lead. | 6-2 Tampa
• A two-RBI double by Aleywine in the top of the eighth led the Spartans on a five-run rally. | 11-2 Tampa
• Drew Ehrhard and Keenan Bell both hit two-RBI doubles in the top of the ninth, increasing Tampa’s lead over Saint Leo. | 15-2 Tampa
• Saint Leo scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth. | 15-5 Tampa

HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME TWO:

• Nick Derr scored in the top of the second on an RBI single by Nick DeTringo to open up the game for the Spartans. | 1-0 Tampa
• Aleywine scored in the top of third on a Danny Sirven RBI single to increase the Spartan lead. | 2-0 Tampa
• Saint Leo got a run back in the bottom of the third via a sacrifice fly. | 2-1 Tampa
• The Lions scored one run to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth. | 2-2 Tampa
• Derr hit a three-run Home Run in the top of the sixth, giving Tampa the lead. | 5-2 Tampa

INSIDE THE STATS | GAME ONE:

• Aleywine’s Home Runs are his team-leading sixth and seventh of the season. He had seven RBI’s on the day, along with two runs and a double.
• Torrealba batted two-for-four on the game, scoring three runs while hitting a double.
• Danny Blair was two-for-three, with two runs and an RBI.

INSIDE THE STATS | GAME TWO:

• Derr batted two for three with a Home Run and a double, scoring two runs with three RBI’s for the Spartans.
