TAMPA, Fla. – The seventh-ranked University of Tampa Spartans welcomed in the fifth-ranked Lindenwood University Lions into Naimoli Field. The two teams battled throughout with the Lions coming out on top with an 11-5 victory.

How It Happened:

1st Half:

Cece Colombo opened up the scoring as she netted the first goal 44 seconds into the game. Lindenwood would respond by scoring the next two goals to claim a 2-1 advantage. The game would be tied back up at two goals, as Kristyn Staley scored, assisted by Danielle Waters. The Lions would control the rest of the half as they ended the on a 3-0 run to end the half up 5-2 || Lindenwood 5, Tampa 2

2nd Half:

Lindenwood would continue to hold the edge over Tampa at the beginning of the half as they would net the first three goals to go up 8-2. UT would be able to respond to those three goals as they would net the next three goals, as Cece Colombo scored twice, and Claire Swanson added a goal to make the game 8-5. The Spartans comeback bid was cut short as the Lions defense held them scoreless for the remainder of the half and the offense scored three goals to close the game out. || Lindenwood 11, Tampa 5

Inside the Stats:

· Colombo led the way for Tampa as she scored three goals in the game.

· Alex Walling would record three saves for Tampa in her first collegiate game.

Up Next: Tampa will be back in action on next Tuesday, March 3rd as they welcome in Concordia-St. Paul. The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
